Neptune Declaration SKV

SKV are proud to be one of the 800 organization that signed The Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change.

Industry and human rights leaders are joining forces to resolve a humanitarian crisis at sea; hundred of thousand of seafarers have been stranded on board ships since the outbreak of Covid-19 as governments impose more travel bans in response to new strains of the coronavirus and the situation risks getting worst.

The Neptune Declaration urges the implementation of four main actions to address the crisis:

-Recognize seafarers as key workers and give them priority access to Covid-19 vaccines
-Establish and implement gold standard health protocols based on existing best practice
-Increase collaboration between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes
-Ensure air connectivity between key maritime hubs for seafarers

With this signatory SKV recognizes that we have a shared responsibility to ensure that the current crew change crisis is resolved as soon as possible and to use the learnings from the crisis as an opportunity to build a more resilient maritime supply chain.
